Restrictions on peaceable assembly

From the US Constitution

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

But is it really that simple?

The current law of the land upheld by the United States Supreme Court is that time, place, and manner restrictions are constitutional. Now I'm not saying I agree with this, but it is what is.

If you want to educate yourself on how and why these regulations have been upheld, there is great information in the First Amendment Encyclopedia provided by the Free Speech Center at Middle Tennessee State University on time, place, and manner restrictions.
